The new drink-drive limits are in place, and we are warned of the dangers of driving in the mornings, even after a night’s sleep.

So isn’t there now an opportunity for an enterprising Wellingtonian to design a smarter parking meter, that would allow drivers to prepay for a couple of hours morning parking, on the night before?

Or, will the council decide to not send their officers to swoop on Blair St, Allen St, and Courtenay Place every morning, so as to encourage responsible drivers to have the sleep-in the police now say is necessary?
