Adele Townsend, 53, was due to arrive in Hamilton that evening after catching a bus from Wellington.
But when the bus arrived, Townsend was nowhere to be seen, perplexing husband Graeme who had driven to the Hamilton Transport Centre to meet her.
Last night, police confirmed Townsend had been found safe in Levin.
Her husband told media she used to work at Vardon School as a part-time teacher for its afterschool programme. But she stopped around Christmas - something he only found when he rang the school to let them know she would not be in.
