Getting ready for the worst - tsunami planning tested

Exercise Tangaroa, testing the country’s readiness for a major tsunami, kicks off Wednesday. Civil Defence Minister Nikki Kaye said there would be some public involvement, but the exercise would mainly involve the agencies that would be part of a tsunami response, unlike the national earthquake drill. It would allow those agencies to test their processes, decisionmaking and communications. Kaye said more resources would be developed to increase tsunami awareness.
