Nats’ approach

-

Re The Politics of Obesity and medicinal cannabis (August 27), if the National Party indeed does believe in the individual’s ability to make healthy personal choices, even ‘‘in the face of enormous cunning and deceptive marketing by the food industry’’, why does it prohibit hemp food and medical cannabis (except with approval from the minister)?

This prohibition denies individuals the right to make informed personal choices about nutrition and medicine that has been used legally and effectively throughout the world for over 99 per cent of the past 10,000 years.

The effect of National’s approach, if not its intent, is to support multinationals over people. SUE GREY Nelson
