Reed makes cup

Patrick Reed clinched a spot on the United States Ryder Cup golf team when he won The Barclays yesterday but Rickie Fowler missed out on automatic selection. Reed arrived in New York occupying eighth position on the points list for the biennial matches against Europe and booked his place with victory at Bethpage Black. Fowler did not fare as well. He needed to finish third or better to secure his position after starting the tournament 12th on the Ryder Cup list .
