NZ’s best and worst airports

-

Visiting an airport is hardly ever plain sailing.

So is it too much to expect a little comfort and somewhere reasonably priced to snack before that flight?

According to research, Kiwis rate New Zealand’s airports on their cleanliness, range of bars, and bathrooms, with Queenstown International coming out on top in all categories.

The South Island airport, which has recently undergone an upgrade, was given an 8 out of 10 grade in a survey of 308 travellers conducted by Cheapflights.

And the worst? Auckland Domestic Airport came in last (7.1 out of 10) with passengers complaining about the checkin process, the wait at baggage claim and the attitudes of airport staff.

Christchurch and Wellington domestic airports drew, with a rating of 7.3

‘‘Overall, travellers are generally content with the big terminals across the country, which scored 7.5 out of 10 on average.

‘‘The majority (76 per cent) have a positive airport experience, with 58 per cent of respondents saying their most recent visit was ‘pleasant enough’,’’ said Nathan Graham, of Cheapflights ANZ.
