Get the vaccine

I was surprised at the number of Pakeha families who are rejecting the Gardasil vaccine (March 30).

My grandmother experienced a very long and extremely agonising death back in 1959 due to cervical cancer before reliable smear tests, treatment, effective palliative care or any type of vaccine was available to women.

If this vaccine can prevent other women suffering a similar fate, then people should consider getting the vaccine. If I had been a parent, I would have definitely insisted that my children received this vaccine. MEGAN BARBER Johnsonville
