Money bags missing

Police are looking for bags of money that fell from an armoured security van near Wanaka yesterday. Senior Sergeant Allan Grindell said the amount of cash in the bags was unknown, but one bag had been handed into police by a member of the public. Two bags were still missing. ‘‘We received some information that the [vehicle’s] rear door opened and some bags of cash had fallen out,’’ Grindell said. ‘‘A motorist ... picked up a bag of coins and dropped it into the station here.’’ Police officers from Wanaka and Queenstown were still looking for the missing money.
