The money pit
I’m bemused at the comments by some over health and infrastructure funding in this Budget.
Our population has increased but it remains under five million. The health budget is now $17 billion. The infrastructure budget is now $32 billion.
We’re talking billions here, not millions, so I don’t understand the problem. How much does everyone want and why are these amounts not enough?
Only recently was the global economy spectacularly thumped on to its backside. There’s no bottomless money pit even if some seem to insist that there is.
So how about we live with what we have, and try to take better care of ourselves and those close to us.
The Government can’t do everything. ANDREW SHIRTCLIFFE
