A daughter’s view

I am a lawyer, and the progeny of an accountant father and nurse mother. My parents do the 5-minute quiz together each day with no quarter given.

Of late, they have taken their gamesmanship to new heights and have each sought to influence the terms of play through this forum.

Currently each believes the other to be succeeding in this endeavour, which heralds a likely escalation of their breakfast-table banter.

For the sake of family harmony I respectfully request that henceforth there be neither accounting nor medical questions included in the quiz: the topic of legal lore would, however, be a more than acceptable substitute. ELSPETH HORNER
