Splash pad plan not dashed

Construction of an $880,000 splash pad in Porirua should still be done by summer despite hold-ups. Porirua City Council announced a 250-square-metre water play area at Aotea Lagoon in Papakowhai would open in March. But getting resource consent to reclaim the old duck pond land and change the stormwater system became too complex so a new plan was to build the splash pad on a nearby lawn in late winter. Construction is expected to take three to four months.
