AWAIKANAE BEACH home that was promoted to people wanting to enter the property market has been auctioned for $211,000 above its rateable value. The property, at 6 Kaitawa St, had a rateable value of $310,000 and sold for $521,000.
‘‘It was a beautifully presented twobedroom home with all-day sun on an 840-square metre section with the bonus of a large double-garage,’’ Ray Marshall, of Harcourts, says.
Built in the 1960s, the 100sqm house had two bathrooms and was close to the beach, boat club and cafes.

A WHITBY HOME with an as-new kitchen, modern bathroom and fantastic outdoor living has been auctioned for $85,000 above its rateable value. The property, at 47 Shackle Lane, had a rateable value of $550,000 and sold for $635,000.
‘‘It was a fabulous feel-good home with three bedrooms, open-plan living, asnew kitchen, modern bathroom and the most amazing outdoor area,’’ Gavin Faulke, of Harcourts, says.
The 190sqm dwelling was built in the 1980s on a 698sqm section in a cul-de-sac and hadn’t changed hands in 17 years.

The property, at 270 Dowse Dr, had a rateable value of $600,000 and sold for $662,000.

Built in the 1960s, the 260sqm dwelling included a large modern kitchen, stylish new bathroom and a conservatory.
It was on a sheltered 798sqm section with a tiered garden with panoramic Hutt Valley and Wellington Harbour views.

A VOGELTOWN TOWNHOUSE that had previously sold in 1989 has been auctioned for $74,000 below its rateable value. The property, at 1/7 Dransfield St, had a rateable value of $470,000 and was auctioned for $396,000.

The elevated 150sqm dwelling had views over Vogeltown and included an internal-access single garage and an outdoor area that captured late sun.

The north-facing property, at 6A/16 Kent Tce, had a rateable value of $600,000 and sold for $560,000.
Mike Robbers and Socheata Tep, of Harcourts, say the estate sale included a secure car park and storage locker.
The 110sqm apartment dated to the 1990a, had a balcony off the open-plan living area, looking over Mount Victoria to the harbour.
It was marketed to first-home buyers and investors.
