English racks up big bill on campaign-period travel
National leader Bill English racked up close to $100,000 in taxpayer-funded travel expenses over the campaign period. English spent $99,454 on travel for him, his staff, and his spouse over July-September. New Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern spent $23,465 over the same period, but she was only Labour leader for two of those months and has fewer staff. Former leader Andrew Little’s bill was almost $40,000, suggesting his tab might have ended up picking up some of Ardern’s travel.
