Misplaced focus

The editorial (Dec 7) gave much support for the film museum, another of the glitzy, glassy abovegroun­d buildings that you say would help make Wellington a ‘‘world-class tourist attraction’’, bringing in untold dollars.

I agree that the council is ‘‘the guardian of the city’s interests’’ and I have a strong preference that it makes sure that below-ground necessitie­s are up to the mark and future-proofed: a water supply system with minimal leaks that delivers sufficient water that is safe to drink; and robust sewage and wastewater removal systems that are efficient and modern, not ageing and degrading.
