Ter­ror ac­cused in court

An al­leged Is­lamist ter­ror­ist has ap­peared in court ac­cused of a plot to bomb the gates of Down­ing Street and as­sas­si­nate Bri­tish Prime Min­is­ter Theresa May. Naa’imur Rah­man, 20, is ac­cused of plan­ning to det­o­nate a home­made ex­plo­sive de­vice be­fore storm­ing No 10 armed with a knife and sui­cide vest. He has been charged with pre­par­ing acts of ter­ror­ism, and ap­peared at West­min­ster mag­is­trates’ court yes­ter­day along­side Mo­hammed Im­ran, 21, who is ac­cused of try­ing to join Is­lamic State. Rah­man, of Finch­ley, north Lon­don, is also charged with as­sist­ing Im­ran in plan­ning ter­ror­ism. Im­ran, from the Spark­brook area of Birm­ing­ham, is charged in re­la­tion to his al­leged in­ten­tion to join Isis in Libya.
