POP-UP BAR­BER SHOP

Bar­bers, ban­ter and buzz cuts will be the or­der of the day at Mid­land Park from noon un­til 1.30pm where two of NZ’s best bar­bers will be of­fer­ing free cuts to the pub­lic in cel­e­bra­tion of next year’s New Zealand Fes­ti­val in­clud­ing head­line act, Bar­ber Shop Chron­i­cles, which ex­plores bar­ber shops as safe spa­ces for men to talk.

CAROL SINGING @ TE PAPA

Join the Sal­va­tion Army Band for an af­ter­noon of free, fam­ily fun at Te Papa on Sun­day. Sing along to a va­ri­ety of tra­di­tional Christ­mas carols in the mu­seum’s out­door am­phithe­atre venue, which pro­vides an idyl­lic set­ting to en­joy the songs while bask­ing in the sun­shine. Per­for­mances are at 3pm and 4.45pm.

IS­LAND BAY WORK­ING BEE

Manawa Kar­ioi Eco­log­i­cal Restora­tion Project is hold­ing its last work­ing bee for the year on Sun­day to help sort out the nurs­ery at Tapu te Ranga Marae. The hard work will be re­warded with an end-of-year pot luck af­ter­noon tea. Rhine St; 1pm-3pm.

Join Nanogirl (Michelle Dickinson) and her trusty lab as­sis­tant Boris for sci­ence and en­gi­neer­ing as you have never seen them be­fore. All new ex­per­i­ments and ex­plo­sions - gi­ant sparks, fire­balls, and even a real life bed of nails – bring sci­ence and en­gi­neer­ing to life in the coolest ways pos­si­ble. BEERS AT THE BASIN

The in­au­gu­ral Beers at the Basin event gets un­der way from 11am, show­cas­ing some of the best craft brew­eries, winer­ies, street food and mu­sic that New Zealand has to of­fer. Basin Re­serve, Sus­sex St; un­til 7pm.
