Haumaha report out soon
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern says the report into high-ranking cop Wally Haumaha’s appointment will be released ‘‘very shortly’’. The final report for a Government inquiry into Haumaha’s promotion to deputy commissioner was received by Internal Affairs Minister Tracey Martin on Friday. ‘‘The minister over the weekend received the report, I’m yet to see it myself personally,’’ Ardern said yesterday. ‘‘The minister is currently looking at the process that she needs to go through around its release to individuals that are involved with the report itself.’’ Haumaha’s promotion from assistant commissioner in May has come under fire in recent months, over comments he made during Operation Austin – the investigation of rape allegations made by Louise Nicholas.
