Get off the footpath, cyclists
Whilst I am all for bike-sharing options in cities that have designated bike lanes, the only times I have seen Wellington’s Onzo bikes used, they have been ridden on the pavement by naive tourists or selfish youths with scant regard for the safety of pedestrians. These app-driven snowflakes need to harden up a little, use the road and obey the current road laws or give up on their dreams of trying to appear ‘‘modern’’ .
When will the council (or police) start enforcing the laws already in place to protect the public – there must be a goldmine of fines to be collected. Of course, this erosion of pedestrian rights will multiply drastically with the introduction of these loathed motorised scooters.
