Teen stabbed with scissors
A student was stabbed in the neck with a pair of scissors at Southland Boys’ High School on Tuesday. Detective Sergeant Sean Cairns said a 14-year-old boy appeared in Invercargill Youth Court, charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. He has been remanded in custody. Emergency services were called to the school about 2pm and a 15-year-old was taken to hospital with serious injuries. The injuries were not lifethreatening and he was recovering well, Cairns said. School rector Simon Coe said both people involved were students at the school. ‘‘Southland Boys’ High School takes its responsibilities towards the safety of our students extremely seriously. We have launched our own internal inquiry and are cooperating fully with the police investigation. We will also be notifying the Ministry.’’
