Nearly half oppose legal cannabis

-

New Zealand’s appetite to legalise marijuana is up slightly but not enough to make the change. A 1 News/Colmar Brunton poll into the issue found that 49 per cent of New Zealanders opposed legalising cannabis, which was down two percentage points on a previous poll. Those in favour of legalising it had gone up a percentage point to 40 per cent. The poll, of 1007 eligible voters, called mobile phones and landlines between June 20 and 24. The referendum on whether New Zealand legalises cannabis will run during the general election on September 19, along with another referendum on euthanasia .
