Covid tests: 367 in the wind

- Tom Hunt

More than 350 people who have been through managed isolation have gone incommunicado.

The Ministry of Health has managed to track down and test 1269 people who were in managed isolation between June 9 and 16. All had tested negative for Covid19.

But there remained 367 people who had not been tracked down despite calls and text messages.

Director-general of health Dr Ashley Bloomfield said they had all gone through 14 days of managed isolation and the risk of them having the virus was low.

Healthline had been calling, texting, and, where possible, emailing the 367 people but had not heard back from them.

‘‘Everybody needs to play their part,’’ Bloomfield said.

‘‘Yes, we can have contact details and repeatedly contact people. But there is an expectation and, I would have thought, an obligation on their part to make contact back.’’
