Killed man ‘a big softie’
The man killed when hit by a car in Hawke’s Bay has been remembered as ‘‘a big softie’’ who loved and cared for his nan. Pahi Hanara, 41, died after being hit by a car about 2am on Sunday near the intersection of Taihape Rd and Korokipo Rd, northeast of Hastings. Hanarawas raised by his grandmother in a house at Omahu, near the site of the crash. His cousin Rehia said Pahiwas a well-known and well-likedman who cared for his grandmother before she died last year. Hewas a frequent player at the Napier Golf Club. Hanarawas a seasonal worker, splitting time betweenWattie’s and orchards. The circumstances that led to Hanara’s deathwere still being investigated.
