Spicy treats help temple

Food for the body will raise funds for the spiritual on Sunday May 31.

The New Zealand Hindu Associatio­n’s curry bazaar – a day-long smorgasbor­d of Indian and Sri Lankan dishes – returns to Petone to raise funds for the Hindu temple in Wellington.

Event volunteer Hema Souri says this year’s menu includes the popular dosas from south India, the Chaat items from the north and eggplant curry from Sri Lanka, among other treats.

There are also some Bollywood acts.

The event is from 10am to 6.30pm at the Indian Cultural Hall, Petone (cnr Udy and Nelson Sts). The $20 tickets are available on the day, or call Hema, 586 5045 or Ram, 565 1452.
