Late night call annoying

Ted Heslin denied not giving Tamihere a fair hearing.Tamihere had called him late on a Sunday night, which had annoyed him, and they had met the following day. He did not accept Tamihere’s stance that the community had not been consulted and told him he’d had plenty of opportunities to attend public meetings.

Tamihere had demanded he call a meeting of the community committee but he told him that he could attend the next scheduled meeting.

Heslin said he is confident residents are aware of the plan for a bowls centre. But he agreed with Tamihere on one point – the need for more youth facilities in Naenae.
