Brigade marks 75th

75TH BIRTHDAY

-

Stokes Valley firefighters will celebrate 75 flaming years with an action-packed Saturday featuring a bomb squad, kitchen fire and jaws of life.

The Stokes Valley Volunteer Fire Brigade is preparing to celebrate its 75th jubilee with a host of excitement for the community on May 30.

The day will start outside the Stokes Valley RSA from 9am with a parade down Stokes Valley Rd featuring up to 30 fire appliance vehicles – lights and sirens going – ending at the Stokes Valley Fire Station at 10am.

Then the open day events begin: Check out the brigade’s trucks and tools up close; see how a jaws of life operation can free a person from the wreckage of a serious car crash; watch a live kitchen fire operation; learn from an on-site bomb squad.

There will also be a bouncy castle and sausage sizzle until about 2pm.
