Choir seeks extra talent

-

Wainuiomata Choir has new musical director who is keen to build up the number of singers.

Sue Robinson has recently returned from living in Melbourne and says she is excited to be taking on a choir that features both experienced and promising new talent.

Robinson has conducted many choirs and orchestras in the Wellington region, including Bel Canto Vocal Ensemble, Porirua City Choir, Wellington Orchestra, Wellington Chamber Orchestra and Wellington Children’s Chorus.

In Melbourne she worked with Melbourne City Opera and the Australian Children’s Choir among others, as well as getting a taste of the receiving end by singing in the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra Chorus.

She is a solo pianist and accompanist and recently sang solo in the Hutt Valley Singers/ Wainuiomata Choir/Upper Hutt Brass Band’s April performances of Karl Jenkins’ The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace, along with two other members of Wainuiomata Choir.

Wainuiomata Choir rehearses every Thursday night 7.30-9.30pm.

She says she wants to see a mix of all sorts of people singing in the choir.

‘‘It’s good if you have choral experience and/or a great voice, but most important is that you love to sing and that you enjoy focusing and persevering for great results and high standards,’’ Robinson says.

Feel free to bring along a friend to check one of the evening sessions out if you’re feeling shy. Interested people should contact Sue on 027 9722-994, Miriam on 5890-7748 or David on 570-4680.
