Retirees raise $250 for cancer

The Hutt Valley Retired Persons Association raised $250 for breast cancer research at a Pink Ribbon morning tea on May 19.

More than 50 members gathered in pink at Avalon Pavilion. The committee did the baking with a mainly pink theme, including pink iced cakes, pink serviettes, pink cake stands, ribbons and bows, balloons and bunting.

HV Retired Persons Association secretary Tricia Moir said: ‘‘We also had a wonderful speaker after morning tea. Mr Stuart Blake, who was the

community constable for Stokes Valley, gave us some valuable information regarding safety and graffiti.’’
