Grateful thanks for food drive support
The Lower Hutt Community Foodbank thanks all those Lower Hutt residents who gave so generously to the recent Food Drive.
We understand that bags were not collected from a small number of streets, and we do apologise for this.
This failure arose as a consequence of a shortage of volunteer collectors on the day.
We are also looking at whether there were some gaps between the areas covered by the teams collecting.
We particularly thank those people who have brought uncollected bags to the Hutt News office, the foodbank or our supermarket bins.
We also want to express our gratitude to the Hutt News and Stuff for their generous contribution in once again arranging for the distribution of the bags with the paper, and to PMP Distributors for delivering the bags.
We thank the Lions and Rotary Clubs for their magnificent effort in collecting the bags and sorting the contributions.

A FITTING TRIBUTE
The cartoon referring to the life of rugby ‘‘Pine Tree’’ Meads ( Hutt News, August 29) was in my opinion very fitting and very apt.
In fact in first seeing the illustration my initial thought was ‘‘brilliant’’.
A statement of fact expressed without a multitude of words, clearly the work of an imaginative and sensitive mind.
