Heritage trail

There are two heritage trails in Bream Bay. One is easily walked in Waipu village and is marked by informative signs; the other requires a car and map. There's a version online on the museum website, or pop in and visit Fiona for a hard copy. The driving trail covers from Ruakaka to Waipu Cove, and features historic ship building yards, one of the 20 Maori pa in the region, schools, a flour mill and a boarding house – though not all are still standing.
