The Insider's Guide to New Zealand
Frank’s Eatery
Masterton couple Aaron and Victoria
Leithbridge fell in love with Queenstown and committed to that affection by bringing their small-town hospitality south. The resulting café is an open, light space with an industrial aesthetic and has become a social hub for the area, serving locals, surrounding businesses and the constant flow of tourists.
The focus is on creating and delivering the simple things well using free-range and local produce. Amongst the wholesome food on offer are smoothie bowls and blue cod sliders, popular with customers. The Leithbridge's personal touch shines in menu items such as veggie-packed local favourite ‘Aunt Bird,' named after Victoria's daughter's name for her Auntie.
Located close to the airport it's an excellent first port of call after disembarking to quietly slip into the Queenstown scene. Or on a summer Saturday morning this is a great spot after visiting the neighbouring Remarkables Market. 24 Hawthorne Drive, Frankton. (03) 451 1085, frankseatery.co.nz
