The Insider's Guide to New Zealand

Sherwood

-

Starting the day with Sherwood's breakfast buffet full of homegrown and housemade goodness says it all. Not only is it exquisitely presented but it tastes amazing too.

These links between aesthetics and experience are at the heart of Sherwood, the concept embodied throughout the hotel, from the tasteful and inviting rooms to the restaurant and communal spaces. It's hard to believe the earthy but chic aesthetic had its origins in a mock Tudorstyle motel purchased in 2014 and then transformed into the hip hotel it is today. Sherwood's core philosophy is to make a complete community offering based around wellness, both physical and mental, and expanding the mind. An onsite eco studio offers daily yoga, meditation and massage sessions, and there are also educational workshops on topics from ring-making and whisky-tasting to art for kids. Making up for the lack of music venues in town, Sherwood also caters for regular local and touring acts. The vegetable garden and orchard, which enjoy a view that would give the best real estate in Queenstown a good run for its money, provides the fresh organic produce for the restaurant.

Located midway between central Queenstown and Frankton, Sherwood is a convenient spot to come and go from, but with so much goodness happening right there, it might be tricky to leave. 554 Frankton Road. (03) 450 1090, sherwoodqueenstown.nz
