The Insider's Guide to New Zealand
The Brynderwyns
The range that separates Bream Bay and Kaiwaka is loved or loathed by Northlanders, depending which direction you greet them from. Heading north, they signal the descent towards home. Heading south is a little more wobbly – the rollercoaster twists have turned the tum of many a traveling child. This is a dangerous road, however the northern side has received a huge amount of work in the past few years, which has thankfully included the creation of a lookout. Well signposted on the right-hand side heading north, the lookout rewards drivers and passengers with huge views right across Bream Bay, Whangarei Heads and the Hen and Chicken Islands.
