The Little Gallery Whangamata

This is the second Little Gallery on the Coromandel, with the original 5-year-old gallery in nearby Tairua. The Little Gallery Whangamata exhibits works from over 50 artists, many of whom are locally based or have a connection to the Coromandel. Owner Sarah Holden had no shortage of creatives to select from – there are printmakers, painters, sculptors, weavers, jewellers and more, and the pieces range from affordable cards and prints to staggering carved wood benches and concrete sculptures. Jane Galloway's wide variety of works are prominent, as are pieces by Michael Smither, Sue Jamieson and Joanne Mahoney. Closed Tuesday and Wednesday during winter. Shop 3, 427 Port Road, Whangamata.
