What’s on - Fashion show

Whakatu Riding for the Disabled have fashioned a fundraising event.

-

Head along to the Whakatu Riding for the Disabled (RDA) fundraising fashion show to support an important local cause.

The fashion show will feature six RDA volunteers modelling 18 different outfits from Fashion Central while strutting along the catwalk.

Whakatu RDA president and volunteer Rebecca Beva said it would be a fun and interactive evening and encouraged people to get together with their friends and support a good cause.

‘‘It’s an opportunity for them to get a bit glamorous instead of being muddy and horsey.’’

This is the fourth year the fashion show will be held and Beva said it had been getting a lot of support from the community.

Entertainment will fill in the gaps between the modelling showing the latest fashions and the evening will also involve games, raffles and spot prizes.

The Whakatu RDA provides opportunities for anyone with a disability to enjoy safe, stimulating, therapeutic horse riding and horse- related activities.

Beva said the horses functioned as therapists and stimulated the human action of walking, which helped participants to improve their muscle coordination.

Riding also increased confidence.

The funds raised on the evening will go towards helping with the general up keep of the non-profit organisation.

Beva said the Whakatu RDA also needed two new horses.

The fashion show will be held at Fashion Central in Richmond on Tuesday September 20 at 7pm. Tickets are $15 and available from Whakatu RDA.
