Thanks a bunch
The Daffodil Day fundraising event in Nelson does not happen without considerable preparation behind the scenes.
Cancer Society Nelson has been a hive of activity leading up to Friday’s big day when volunteers will be out in force inviting generous public support without which patient and family support and ongoing cancer research would not be possible.
The Cancer Society has had pickers cutting fresh daffodils from properties in Wakefield, Brightwater and Hope as well as on two vineyard properties in the Motueka area that produce daffodils to be sold on Daffodil Day.
Sites are located in Murchison, Wakefield, Brightwater, Richmond, Stoke and Nelson where people may donate and/or purchase merchandise. This will be Cancer Society Nelson’s first Daffodil Day at its new CBD site in Hardy St, outside which contributions may be made.
Volunteer and community support has been welcomed as willing workers assembled bunches of daffodils and collected and delivered merchandise for each of the sites.
Even Oscar, Cancer Society
Nelson’s popular bear mascot, has tried to make himself useful.
Staff are hoping for another wellsupported Daffodil Day and will be out and about in their new uniforms.
