In-form netball teams to lock horns

- PHILLIP ROLLO

The top four may already have been decided in another relatively straight forward season of premier netball where upsets have been scarce.

But there are still some key questions to be answered in the final two weeks of the competition – specifically, who will qualify where?

With the top two earning an extra life, Prices A and Jacks OPD will be eyeing a place in the minor semifinal between the competition’s No 1 and No 2 teams when they meet at Saxton Stadium tomorrow night in what should be the game of the season.

Prices A are the only unbeaten team left standing but with numerous injuries creating some selection headaches for coach Mandy Whiting, a back in-form Jacks side should back themselves to be the team that finally beats them, especially after their resounding 61-24 win over Nelson College for Girls last week.

The other highlight of the next round will be the battle between Richmond Glass and Stoke NBS.

Richmond are still sitting in second place after beating Russell’s Curtains Suburban 63-42 while Stoke will be looking to bounce back from the 58-44 loss to Prices A – their first defeat of the campaign.

In the other two games, where teams are fighting for fifth, Suburban will meet the win-less Prices Black and NCG will take on Waimea College in a game that could give an indication of which team is in the better shape heading into next week’s South Island secondary schools championships in Nelson.
