Britain multicultural

-

I was reading the alarmist front page the other day while sipping on some imported Yorkshire Tea; “British Invasion”, it said. There was a learned professor on hand to offer an educated opinion on the value of British migrants to New Zealand, the same ones that he has previously said bring valuable skills to this wonderful country. What made me smile was the sentence: “New Zealand is very different, it is multicultural, very tolerant and it’s got a good lifestyle and a more temperate climate.”

I have lived here in New Zealand since 2003 — it’s great. I lived in England for much longer and I have to say that, taking the whole of New Zealand into account, the climate is about the same. I regularly walked my whippet around a town in England where there were more cultures on show than Kim Kardashian’s selfies. And as for British people being intolerant, honestly this sort of notion makes my blood boil, it really does.
