Lawrence again tops earnings ranking

- — Bang! Showbiz

Jennifer Lawrence has been named the highest-paid actress for two years running.

The 26-year-old actress has managed to retain her title on financial bible Forbes’ annual list after cashing in a whopping US$46 million ($63m) in pretax earnings in the June 2015-June 2016 year.

However, the Silver Linings Playbook star has seen an 11.5 per cent fall in earnings compared to last year’s US$52m. Her earnings this year come largely from the last in- stalment of the Hunger Games and a mammoth upfront payment for Passengers.

Melissa McCarthy ranked second place with pretax earnings of US$33m.

Although actresses who made the list can boast large earnings, the pay gap with male actors still exists, and a reported 90 per cent of the top actresses supplement earn

ings with endorsements.
