Close to 100 firefighte­rs in 24 crews battled a blaze at a plastics factory in West Auckland late last night. Trains on Auckland’s Western Line were stopped as crews dealt with the fire, which started about 10pm at Total Plastics in Henderson. Eyewitness­es reported large explosions and fireballs, including at least one which erupted 60m in the air. The plant specialise­s in electropla­ting on plastic and injection moulding.
