A disgruntled lawyer wearing military-style apparel with old Nazi emblems had two weapons and more than 2500 rounds of live ammunition when he randomly shot at drivers in a Houston neighbourhood yesterday before he was shot and killed by police, authorities said. Nine people were injured during the shootings on the street in front of a condo complex; six were shot and three had eye injuries from flying glass. A bombsquad robot examined a Porsche that police said belonged to the gunman; Texas motor vehicle records showed the car is licensed to Nathan DeSai. An intimate letter gangster Al Capone wrote while imprisoned at Alcatraz has sold at auction in Massachusetts for US$62,500. Boston-based RR Auction says the winning bid came at an auction in Cambridge. The buyer is a collector from the Chicago area. The three-page letter was addressed to Capone’s son, Albert “Sonny” Capone. The mobster signed it, “Love & Kisses, Your Dear Dad Alphonse Capone (hash)85,” which was his number at Alcatraz in San Francisco Bay.
