A mother has admitted neglect after drink-driving with her 3-year-old son on her lap. Tahi Mahu, 34, pleaded guilty to a charge of neglect of a child under 18 when she appeared in the Huntly District Court yesterday. She also pleaded guilty to driving in a dangerous manner, driving without an appropriat­e licence and driving with excess breath alcohol. Mahu was more than three times the legal limit when she drove down Great South Rd in Ngaruawahi­a at about 5pm on August 7, with her preschool-aged son on her lap.
