Clearing the air

As noted last week, Christchurch Airport got $1.58m of government money to — as the official documents say — “support the commencement and growth of year round direct air services by China Southern Airlines between Guangzhou and Christchurch.” The airport company is keen to note that the money was not given to the airline, but was used to market the South Island in China.
