McLaughlin gong

-

Scott McLaughlin’s Supercars career continues in high gear, with the rising Kiwi star winning his second Barry Sheene medal. He received the gong for best and fairest driver at the endof-season gala in Sydney on Monday night after securing third in the championship. He finished behind fellow New Zealander Shane van Gisbergen and Jamie Whincup (both Holden) after Sunday’s Sydney 500. McLaughlin, 23, also won the medal in 2014. He has raced for Garry Rogers Motorsport and is switching to DJR Team Penske in 2017. Van Gisbergen was officially presented with the championship trophy after the New Zealander claimed his first title on the Homebush street circuit at the weekend. Brothers Ross and Jim Stone were inducted into the Hall of Fame in honour of their success as team owners between 1998 to 2012.
