Tourist rescued

A 20-year-old French tramper lost in Fiordland has been found safe and well after a search and rescue mission of more than 12 hours. Friends raised the alarm about 8.15pm on Saturday after he failed to return. A search party spotted the man stuck at the bottom of a very steep ravine around 1.30am yesterday and a Southern Lakes helicopter winched him to safety at 8.30am.
