Friends yesterday that money to fund a major boost to defence spending will come partly from a “revved-up economy” and reimbursem­ents from foreign countries where the US provides military assistance. Trump’s Administra­tion has proposed cutting funding to the State Department and the US Agency for Internatio­nal Developmen­t by more than a third in a move that drew immediate push-back from senators on both sides of the aisle. The White House Office of Management and Budget has proposed cuts of 37 per cent at two agencies that provide US foreign aid, according to two people familiar with the matter. Conway is seen perched on her knees on the couch with her feet behind her in photos taken on Tuesday while Trump met with leaders of historical­ly black colleges and universiti­es. Christophe­r Steele, the former British spy who authored a controvers­ial dossier on behalf of Trump’s political opponents alleging ties between Trump and Russia reached an agreement with the FBI a few weeks before the election for the bureau to pay him to continue his work, according to several people familiar with the arrangemen­t. Communicat­ions between the FBI and the the former MI6 agent were interrupte­d and the FBI did not end up paying him, the sources said.
