Sculpture on way
A New Zealand artist’s sculpture to commemorate the centenary of the Battle of Arras next month was shipped off to France yesterday. French President Francois Hollande and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will attend the unveiling, possibly alongside Prince Charles and his sons, of the installation Le Coquelicot de Paix (Peace Poppy) at Arras on April 9. The sculpture installation features 36 pairs of feet and commemorates the Kiwi soldiers who served during World War I. The Arras installation will be surrounded by large red poppies designed by Tony McNeight of Devonport to create a giant peace poppy.
