It might have a lot to do with the amazing creations coming out of the pressure cookers on Masterchef Australia. It might also be our winter appetite for slow-cooked deliciousness and our thoughts for those cooking food from scratch without an oven (see page 4). But pressure cookers have been a hot topic in the Bite kitchen lately and we’re about to start being creative with our new Fagor Duo pressure cooker. We’d like to know what your favourite slow-cooked recipes are — recipes that would benefit from being cooked in a pressure cooker. Share your recipe with us at bite.co.nz/win or email bite@nzherald. co.nz by August 9. We will make and test our favourites to produce one winner who will win their own 8L Fagor Duo Pressure cooker valued at $349. New to the New Zealand market, Fagor Duo Pressure Cookers come in four sizes to match your table and your budget — 6L, 8L and 10L and a combination set that includes a 4L and 8L trivet, steamer basket and glass lid. Manufactured in Spain, they have two pressure settings, high and low, which is great when cooking more delicate foods like fish. Fagor Duo pressure cookers are very quiet and generate minimal steam, so there’s no hissing or spitting. There are multiple safety valves and vents including a dual pressure control valve, two independent “over pressure” release valves and a safety locking handle to prevent accidental opening under pressure. Voted the number one pressure cooker brand by NZ Consumer and Australian Choice magazines in 2009, Fagor Duo Pressure Cookers are available from the Homestore, Smith and Caughey and Milly’s Kitchen in Auckland and Moore Wilson in Wellington. RRP from $299.
