Short & sweet On experience

-

Ailsa Martin-Buss calls Jacinda Ardern “a piece of fluff” and says no business would employ a new recruit over an experienced employee. John Key entered Parliament in 2002 and was Prime Minister six years later. Ardern has been an MP for nine years.

Richard Pearson, Remuera.

On Turei

It’s pity that Metiria Turei studied law rather than classics; she might have had a better appreciation of hubris.

Jonathan Jepson, Torbay. Did she admit or did she inform? Is not that unsubtle choice of word the whole crux of this sorry affair?

James Young, Takapuna.

On immigration

New Zealand’s annual live birth rate is less than 60,000. Our annual net immigration rate is more than 72,000. Plainly a foreign takeover is in progress. Lew Thorstensen, Unsworth Heights.

On water

It makes sense to charge a royalty on water exported. It does not make sense to charge a royalty on water used in New Zealand. Saudi Arabia did not get rich by giving away oil. Brian Cuthbert, Army Bay.

On billboards

I wonder how many people wish they’d invested in political party billboard companies? With all the leadership resignations the billboard producers will be laughing all the way to the bank.

Matthew Mills, St Johns.

On benefits

Make a welfare benefit as hard to get as a building consent and we will all be okay.

Richard Prince, Tauranga.
