On water

Chris Finlayson says “no-one owns the water”, so anyone can help themselves. How about “New Zealand owns the water”.

Andrew Duncan, Whitford. Has Treaty Minister Finlayson not noticed “full and final” settlements have always been open for renegotiation.

Graham Steenson, Whakatane.

On Korea

Trump says America is locked and loaded but his deputies like Bill English seem locked in lethargy. If as Audrey Young says, “The Greens are grievously hurt” now is the time to say no to war.

Brian John Evans, Mt Eden.

On trams

I find it hard to believe it is less costly to construct a 22km light railway from the CBD to the airport, electrify the whole route and buy the trams than it is to build 9km of heavy rail from Puhinui station when we already have the trains. H. E. H. Perkins, Botany Downs.

On Warriors

Since Eric Watson wants to sell the Warriors, might I suggest he advertise on Trade Me in the $1 reserve section. L. Mallon, Te Atatu.

On guns

I see the weapons associated with the warrior tradition of my Pakeha forebears are to be moved to storage at the War Memorial Museum. I suppose it is only a matter of time before the taiha and mere face the same fate. Kerry Craig, Mt Eden.
