Fix planet or fly to Mars

-

A tragic lack of focus has resulted in degradation of the environment and wasteful use of resources. It now appears even NZ is no longer pure and unspoilt.

We need a new paradigm with a new focus away from increased profit at any cost so that people and the environment come into the economic equation. Does anyone remember when healthcare, and education services budgets, did not suffer austerity settings in order to be economically viable?

The Greens and National represent different perspectives with regard to how they evaluate price and profit and the environment so we can't mix the old and the new because the new way of thinking is opposed to profit at any price. Greens include care of our planet as crucial in evaluating price and profit. National in the traditional way of thinking treats the environment as the economic means to generate wealth. Playing the old economic game no longer works. The Greens are moving towards a holistic/multiple interactive causal view where the human race cares for one another and the planet. The old concept of profit and cost-saving measures resulting in environmental disturbance and destruction does not work in a finite world.

I suppose there is another solution to our present degradation of the planet and worrying about MMP and the suffering of humankind. We can put all our money into preparing to move to Mars.
